Laboratory Oven

Laboratory ovens are commonly found in clinical, forensic and research laboratories. The basic function of ovens in the laboratory is to provide a uniform temperature. Based on the specific needs of the laboratory, different kinds of ovens are used including gravity, mechanical, convectional and vacuum ovens. In biological laboratories, conventional hot air ovens are used for drying of glassware and other equipment, pre-heating and for sample incubation at higher temperatures. In case laboratories require air-flow within the oven, the forced convection type can be used. Ovens are also used for drying samples, in which case, a vacuum pump oven is best suited. In forensic biology labs, such ovens are also sued to develop fingerprints. In biological laboratories, sterile conditions must be maintained even inside these ovens and hence, microbial filters may be used to filter the air entering and leaving the oven. The ovens are cleaned regularly too.
