Ammonium purpurate by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as Murexide, this compound is the ammonium salt of purpuric acid. This reagent is available as a reddish purple powder which is slightly soluble in water, and insoluble in alcohol. In solution, the colour ranges with pH, from yellow when strong acidic, to reddish-purple when weakly acidic and blue-purple in alkaline solutions. Murexide can be synthesized by heating alloxantin in ammonia gas to 100 C, or by boiling uramil (5-aminobarbituric acid) with mercury oxide. CAS No.: 3051-09-0 Quantity Provided: 125 ml per bottle Molecular Formula: C8H8N6O6 Molecular Weight: 284.19 Assay: Minimum 97 % Analytical grade reagentAmmonium purpurate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This compound is vastly used as a complexometric indicator in analytical chemistry for complexometric titrations of calcium, copper nickel and cobalt as well as rare-earth metals. It is researched as a promising enhancer of sonochemical destruction of chlorinated hydrocarbon pollutants. Murexide is additionally, an inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
