ANTIBIOTIC ASSAY MEDIUM NO. 4 is supplied by TM MEDIA. It is used for the detection of Penicillin in milk and for microbiological assay of dierent antibiotics.Peptone, yeast, and beef extract provide nutritional requirements for growth of the indicator organisms like Bacillus stearothermophilus, Micrococcus luteus . This medium is similar to Antibiotic assay medium no. 2 except for the additional ingredient of dextrose. Dextrose in the medium serves as an easily available source of carbon stimulating the luxuriant growth of the test organisms.
