Barium sulphate by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. This compound is a sulphate salt of barium. The reagent is available as a crystalline white powder which is insoluble in water and alcohol. It has a melting point of 1580 C. While it is stable under general conditions, it is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents and must be stored carefully. To obtain this compound, the mineral barite is processed by carbothermal reduction yielding barium sulphide, which reacts with sulphuric acid to produce barium sulphate. CAS No.: 7727-43-7 Quantity Provided: 500 gm per bottle Molecular formula: BaSO4 Molecular weight: 233.39 Assay: Minimum 97 % PrecipitatedBarium sulphate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. A major portion of this reagent is utilized as a component of oil well drilling fluid. It is also used as a component of white pigment for paints. Barium sulphate is employed as a radiocontrast agent for X-ray imaging and other diagnostic procedures. It is furthermore used as a filler for plastics to increase the density of the polymer in vibrational mass damping applications. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
