Brucella Broth is supplied by HiMedia. It is a sterile ready prepared media containing 5ml of light to medium amber coloured clear solution in bottles. Brucella Broth with supplement is recommended for enrichment and cultivation of Brucella or Campylobacter species from clinical and non-clinical specimens. It is advisable to store this ready prepared media between 2-8C. Composition (in gm/L) is as follows:

Brucella Broth Base is formulated so as to support luxuriant growth of fastidious bacteria like Brucella species. Peptone and casein enzymic hydrolysate provide nitrogenous and carbonaceous compounds, long chain amino acids, vitamins and other nutrients to the organisms. Yeast extract also supply some nitrogenous nutrients but mainly it serves as a source of Vitamin B complex. Dextrose serves as an energy source. It can be enriched with 5% v/v sterile defibrinated horse blood. For selective isolation of Brucella species, antibiotic mixtures are incorporated into the base.
