Buffered Sodium Chloride Peptone Solution pH 7.0 is a product by Micromaster. This solution is sued for preparing dilutions for microbial limit testing. The fluid is prepared such that is confers osmotic stability and stable pH while growing microorganisms and at the same time maintains cell viability. The fluid contains meat or casein peptone, which acts as a nutrient source to allow cell viability. Buffering agents such as phosphates are also incorporated into the peptone solution. To maintain osmotic stability and allow cell integrity, sodium chloride is added. To inactivate phenolic compounds in the medium, polysorbates are incorporated. These polysorbates also reduce surface tension. The dehydrated medium is completely dissolved in water and autoclaved. Several strains of Pseudomonas, Escherichia, Salmonella, Bacillus, Candida etc. can be supported by this fluid.
