Enterobacteria Enrichment Broth, Mossel is supplied by HiMedia. It is a sterile ready prepared media containing 9ml of emerald green coloured clear solution in bottles. Enterobacteria Enrichment Broth is recommended for selective enrichment of Enterobacteriaceae from pharmaceutical products in accordance with the microbial limit testing by harmonized methodology of USP/EP/BP/JP/IP. It is advisable to store this ready prepared media between 2-8C. Composition (in gm/L) is as follows:

Enterobacteria Enrichment Broth, Mossel is prepared in accordance with the harmonized method of USP/EP/BP/JP/ IP. Gelatin peptone and glucose monohydrate permit the growth of most of the members of Enterobacteriaceae. Brilliant green and dehydrated bile act as the inhibitory agents for gram-positive bacteria. Phosphates are good buffering agents and neutralize acids produced by lactose fermenters that would otherwise adversely affect the growth of the organism. Lactose -negative, anaerogenic lactose-positive or late lactose fermenting Enterobacteriaceae are often missed by the standard Coli-aerogenes test. To overcome this problem, lactose is replaced by glucose in this medium. Phosphates form the buffering system of the medium.
