Luria Bertani Agar Plate (w/100ug/ml Ampicillin) is supplied by TM Media. It is suggested for use in the growth and maintenance of recombinant strains of E. coli, specifically for genetic and molecular biology research purposes. Luria Bertani Agar contains twice the amount of sodium chloride compared to the standard medium. This nutrient-rich medium is particularly suitable for cultivating pure cultures of recombinant strains. To generate auxotrophic strains that are unable to grow on nutritionally deficient media, strains derived from Escherichia coli K12 that are deficient in Vitamin B synthesis undergo specific mutations. The medium contains tryptone for the provision of peptides and peptones, while yeast extract offers a source of the Vitamin B complex.
