Methyl violet is a high-grade reagent supplied by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries. Gentian Violet B, Pentamethyl pararosaniline chloride and Methyl violet 2B are some of the other chemical names used for this reagent. It belongs to the family of organic compounds which are mainly used as dyes. The colour of the dye can be altered by the number of attached methyl groups. These dyes are soluble in water, ethanol, diethylene glycol and dipropylene glycol. Methyl violet is available in the form of blue green crystals. It is stable to us, as long as this compound is stored according to the recommended storage conditions. If methyl violet is heated, it can produce carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and hydrogen chloride if heated to decomposition. CAS No. 8004-87-3 Quantity provided: 500 gm/bottle Molecular formula: C24H28ClN3 Molecular weight: 393.959 g/mol Assay: Minimum Any pH indicator is added in small amounts to a solution to determine the pH of any solution visually. Normally an indicator leads to a change in the colour of the test solution, based on the pH. pH indicators are widely used in titrations to determine the extent of a chemical reaction. Or they may be used in any situations requiring the rough estimate of pH range of any solution. This dye is mainly used as a purple dye in textile industries and in paint and inks. Sometimes it is even used for certain medical procedures.
