Nystatin-SD271-1PK is an antimicrobial susceptibility disc supplied by HiMedia. The product contains 5ct i.e., 5x50 discs in a plastic container. Each disc contains a concentration of 50mcg/disc. Nystatin-SD271-1PK is used for antimicrobial susceptibility test by Bauer-Kirby method. It contains filter paper discs of 6mm in diameter with printed NS 50" at the center on each side of the disc.

The Nystatin-SD271 discs are placed aseptically on inoculated Muller Hinton Agar + 2% Glucose + 0.5 mcg/ml Methylene Blue Dye with centers at least 24 mm apart. For fastidious organisms and for Penicillins and Cephalosporins, the discs should preferably be deposited with centers 30 mm apart. Immediately the plates are incubated at 352C for 20-24 hours. Each plate is examined after 20-24 hours of incubation. If plate was satisfactorily streaked the resulting zones of inhibition will be uniformly circular and there will be a semi-confluent lawn of growth. Read at 48 hours only when insufficient growth is observed after 24 hours incubation. The diameter of the zones of complete inhibition are measured to the nearest mm.

The Nystatin-SD271-1PK should be stored at -20C under dry conditions, along with the dessicator provided in indivisual pack.
