p-amino antipyrine by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as 4-aminophenazone and ampyrone, this compound is a metabolite of aminopyrine. This compound has a boiling point of 309 C, and a melting point of 106 to 110 C. It is believed that it may cause agranulocytosis, and hence its use as a drug is not encouraged. p-amino antipyrine has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This compound is commonly used as a reagent for biochemical reactions producing peroxides or phenols. It is used as a reagent for glucose determination in the presence of phenol and peroxidase. This compound has been employed as a corrosion inhibitor of mild steel in 2M HCl solution using different techniques: electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization and weight loss. Additionally, Ampyrone stimulates liver microsomes and can be used to measure extracellular water.
