Sodium silicate paste by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as waterglass or liquid glass, this is the sodium salt of silicic acid. The reagent is available as a white powder which is soluble in water. It has a melting point of 1088 C. Sodium silicate can be generated using Sodium carbonate and sodium sulphate. While it is stable under general conditions, this reagent is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. CAS No.: 1344-09-8 Quantity Provided: 500 gm per bottle Molecular formula: Na2O3SiO2 Molecular weight: 242.23 Assay: Minimum 26.5 Sodium silicate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This reagent finds applications in the organic synthesis of various derivative compounds. Solutions of sodium silicate is chiefly used as a cement for producing cardboard. It is additionally used in drilling fluids to stabilize borehole wells and to avoid the collapse of bore walls. Sodium metasilicate is also used as coagulant/deflocculant agent in wastewater treatment plants. In a gel form it is employed as a substrate for algal growth in aquaculture hatcheries. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
