The Supermix DNA Ladder is a product from Genei. Agarose Gel electrophoresis is a technique which is used for the analysis of DNA and RNA. In this technique, DNA or RNA is loaded into a semi-solid gel phase made of agarose. When an electric field is applied across the gel, the biomolecules move to the oppositely charged electrode. In this process, the fragments of the DNA or RNA separate according to their sizes and molecular weight to give distinct bands on the gel. The Supermix DNA Ladder from Genei is used for the analysis of DNA run on agarose gels. When run on an agarose gel, the DNA ruler resolves into 13 bands of linear DNA fragments of the size range 500 bp to 33.5 kb. The bands corresponding to 3 kb is the reference band and it is spiked to make it appear distinct. The product is provided in a solution containing 10 mM Tris HCl (pH 8.0) and 10 mM EDTA to prevent degradation. The ruler can be used for analysing the size of PCR products and restriction digestion products.
